10 Ways to Build Your Confidence

It’s easy to compare ourselves to others and think, "Wow, the confidence she has is what I want." What we often forget is the journey that individual took to build her confidence and how she shows up with it daily. Many of my clients ask, "How do I build my confidence?" The simple answer is it doesn’t just happen overnight. It's about taking small steps and, more importantly, staying true to your word. The more you honor your commitments to yourself, the more your confidence grows, leading to greater courage.

1. Set Achievable Goals ✨
Start with small, attainable goals and gradually work your way up to bigger challenges. Each success builds your confidence.

2. Practice Self-Care 🧘🏻‍♀️
Take care of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Regular exercise, healthy eating, and sufficient sleep can significantly boost your confidence.

3. Embrace Positivity ☀️
Surround yourself with positive people and thoughts. Practice gratitude and focus on your strengths rather than your weaknesses.

4. Learn Continuously 🎙️
Knowledge is power. Continuously learn and improve your skills. The more you know, the more confident you become.

5. Step Out of Your Comfort Zone 👊🏻
Challenge yourself to try new things and step out of your comfort zone. Growth happens when you face your fears and overcome them.

6. Visualize Success 🗺️
Imagine yourself succeeding. Visualization techniques can help you feel more confident and prepared to tackle challenges.

7. Acknowledge Your Achievements 🥳
Take time to recognize and celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem. This reinforces your belief in your abilities.

Stand tall, make eye contact, and smile. Positive body language can influence how others perceive you and how you feel about yourself.

9. Seek Feedback and Learn from It 👩🏻‍🤝‍👩🏿
Constructive feedback helps you understand areas for improvement and reinforces your strengths. Use it as a tool for growth.

10. Break It Down ❤️

Discovering Your True Potential: Why CliftonStrengths Stands Out Among Personality Assessments

When it comes to personal and professional growth, I’ve always been an advocate for self-discovery and understanding. Over the years, I’ve taken my fair share of personality assessments—Myers-Briggs, DISC, Enneagram, you name it. Each one provided interesting insights and a fun look into different facets of my personality. But it wasn’t until I encountered CliftonStrengths that I truly felt like I’d found a roadmap for my journey, not just a snapshot of who I am.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not here to bash other personality assessments. They all have their place and can offer valuable perspectives. But let me share with you why CliftonStrengths, in my experience, stands out as the best tool for unlocking your true potential and empowering you to achieve your goals.

A Roadmap to Your Destination

Imagine having a detailed roadmap that not only shows you where you are but also guides you on how to get to where you want to be. That’s what CliftonStrengths offers. Unlike other assessments that often leave you with a broad label or a generic description, CliftonStrengths dives deep into your unique talents. It identifies your top strengths and provides actionable insights on how to leverage these talents effectively.

For instance, knowing that I have a strong talent in Strategic Thinking isn’t just a nice-to-know fact. CliftonStrengths helps me understand how to apply this talent in real-life scenarios—whether it’s in my personal life, at work, or in leadership roles. This targeted approach transforms abstract qualities into tangible assets.

The Coaching Advantage

One of the most powerful aspects of CliftonStrengths is the role of a coach in this journey. As a Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible transformations that happen when individuals not only discover their strengths but also learn how to aim them productively. A coach helps you navigate your roadmap, providing guidance, encouragement, and strategies to overcome obstacles along the way.

Think of it this way: the assessment is your personalized guide, and your coach is your travel companion, ensuring you stay on track and make the most of your journey. Together, they create a dynamic duo that can turn your aspirations into reality.

Why CliftonStrengths?

So, why should you choose CliftonStrengths over other assessments? Here are a few key reasons:

1. Personalized Insights: CliftonStrengths offers a highly personalized view of your unique talents. It goes beyond generic categories to pinpoint what makes you exceptional.

2. Actionable Results: The assessment doesn’t just tell you who you are; it shows you how to use your strengths in practical, meaningful ways.

3. Growth-Oriented: By focusing on what you naturally do best, CliftonStrengths encourages continuous growth and improvement, rather than just categorizing you into a type.

4. Empowerment through Coaching: With the support of a certified coach, you receive tailored guidance that helps you apply your strengths strategically, maximizing your potential.

My Journey with CliftonStrengths

Reflecting on my own journey, I can confidently say that CliftonStrengths has been a game changer. It’s not just about understanding myself better; it’s about using that understanding to navigate my life and career with confidence and purpose. I’ve seen clients transform their lives by recognizing their talents, overcoming limiting beliefs, and developing actionable plans to achieve their goals.

In a world filled with personality assessments, CliftonStrengths offers something uniquely valuable—a practical, strengths-based approach that empowers you to flourish. If you’re ready to discover your true potential and embark on a journey of growth, I invite you to explore CliftonStrengths and see the difference it can make.

Thank you for taking the time to read about why CliftonStrengths stands out among the many personality assessments out there. Whether you’re new to this or a seasoned self-discovery enthusiast, I hope you’ll consider taking this transformative journey with me.

I hope this captures the essence of what you wanted to convey. Let me know if there are any additional points or adjustments you’d like!

Embracing Multiple Perspectives: Why I'm Excited About an Enneagram Workshop

As someone who has taken numerous personality/leadership assessments, like, I have taken A LOT. I appreciate the unique insights each one offers. I’ve experienced the value of various tools, and while I’m a firm believer in the CliftonStrengths assessment, I’m also excited to dive into the Enneagram.

With the upcoming opportunity to facilitate a workshop for the Ignite Women’s Conference for Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, I have read and read and read (Number 5 Strength: Learner) as much as possible to prep for this workshop. Pauses to have a realization.. Now that makes sense because I am a proud Enneagram 3 - The Achiever.

Naturally, I want to share about this tool and my number one tool in my tool belt, the CliftonStrengths Assessment.

The Enneagram and CliftonStrengths Assessment: Complementary Tools

The Enneagram, with its rich history and comprehensive view of personality types, provides valuable insights into our behaviors and motivations. It helps us understand our core desires and fears, offering a journey to personal growth and better interpersonal relationships. This complements the CliftonStrengths assessment, which focuses on identifying and leveraging our top strengths.

Of course Gallup put out a comparison article!

Here is what I have gathered and read. Both tools offer unique benefits that can work together to enhance self-awareness and performance (did I squeal when I read this and immediately bust out the hexagram, you betchya!). The Enneagram identifies nine personality types, each with distinct characteristics and growth paths, while CliftonStrengths pinpoints 34 talent themes, providing a detailed map of our innate strengths. When used together, these tools can offer a more holistic view of our potential and areas for development.

Why CliftonStrengths is My Go-To Tool

Even with my Learner hat on and my excitement overflowing with the upcoming Enneagram workshop, CliftonStrengths remains my primary tool for helping individuals and teams thrive. I am a Certified Coach after all. This assessment goes beyond labeling personality traits; it provides a strategic approach to personal and professional development. Research by Gallup shows that employees who use their strengths every day are six times more likely to be engaged at work, which leads to higher productivity and job satisfaction.

CliftonStrengths offers a precise and positive language to describe our unique talents. It’s like having a detailed roadmap for achieving our goals, with a coach to guide us on the journey. This strengths-based approach aligns with my passion for helping others discover and cultivate their potential.

Now of course I have the Enneagram in my back pocket! Something my Arranger hat loves to see, “Oh you are not interested in CliftonStrengths Assessment (internally screams), that’s ok, we will adapt and maximize this opportunity. Have you heard of the Enneagram?!”

Note my friends: I still believe that if you are taking ALL the assessments, and not making moves, you are truly doing it wrong. The first step of leadership is self awareness, which doesn’t stop when you take an assessment, it continuous. So here are some questions for you to think about as a fill in the blank personality assessment label.

1. Why did I take the assessment? What have I learned about myself?
2. What areas do I need to shine a light on when working with my goals, my teams, my family, my business…
3. What areas do I need to be cognizant of when working with my goals, my teams, my family, my business….
4. How do I communicate what I have learned in my every day? Hint: it’s not walking around or being in a board room to say, “Well, I am an Enneagram 9 and I am not talking about this”.

Friends, I hope this helps! Let me know which assessment is your favorite!

Now get out there and Do Great Things!

Getting Into the Swing of Things: Our Beach Adventures and Leaning on Strengths

Hi There!

I hope you’re all doing great! This summer, we’ve decided to make it a point to hit the beach more often. Living just 5 miles away, it almost feels like a crime not to take advantage of it, especially now that our youngest is finally one. Let me tell you, it’s been quite a journey trying to manage beach outings with two littles, but we’re determined to make it work!

The first time we went with our oldest, he was just 3 months old. I remember being so nervous—almost like I shouldn’t have had a baby outside, let alone nurse him on the beach. The anxiety didn’t go away easily, and each subsequent trip was a bit of a challenge. But somehow, today, we managed to get into the swing of things, and it felt fantastic.

As a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, I’ve learned to lean on my strengths and take action, even when things seem daunting. Here’s how my top strengths have helped me embrace these beach trips:

Futuristic: Envisioning Wonderful Memories

My Futuristic strength keeps me inspired by the future and what could be. I picture our family making beautiful memories at the beach—building sandcastles, splashing in the waves, and soaking up the sun. This vision fuels my determination to get past the initial hurdles and make those dreams a reality.

Individualization: Tailoring the Experience

With my Individualization strength, I’m always aware of the unique needs of each family member. I know what will make our beach trips enjoyable for everyone. From packing the right snacks to ensuring we have enough shade, I tailor our beach day to suit everyone’s preferences, making the experience smoother and more enjoyable.

Arranger: Organizing Chaos

My Arranger strength is my secret weapon. Organizing all the beach gear, managing nap schedules, and making sure we don’t forget the sunscreen—it’s a juggling act, but one I’m well-equipped for. This ability to arrange and rearrange until everything fits just right helps us have stress-free beach outings.

Woo: Creating Connections

The beach is a great place to meet new people, and my Woo strength makes it easy to connect with other families. It’s amazing how a friendly chat can lead to new friends for both the kids and us parents. This social interaction makes our trips even more enjoyable.

Learner: Embracing the Experience

Finally, my Learner strength helps me see each beach trip as a new opportunity to grow and improve. I’ve learned so much about what works and what doesn’t, and each outing gets a little easier. Embracing this learning process has made me more confident and capable.

Taking Action: The Only Way to Get Used to Something

Taking action is the only way to get used to something. We could have stayed home, overwhelmed by the logistics and potential challenges, but instead, we decided to go for it. Each trip is a little less intimidating, and we’re finding our rhythm. It’s a reminder that sometimes, you just have to dive in and trust that you’ll figure it out as you go.

So, here’s to more beach days, more memories, and more growth—both for the kids and for us as parents. If you’re feeling hesitant about taking on new challenges, remember to lean on your strengths and take that first step. You’ve got this!

“Where have you been?!”

Hi There!

I’m Brittany, a passionate entrepreneur, mom of two, and lover of all things personal growth and wellbeing. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself, share my story, and give you an inside look at what drives me, including my exciting new 6-week Mid-Level Manager Series and my work with CliftonStrengths and Arbonne.

My journey started in higher education, where I spent over a decade facilitating and providing tailored content for program development, staff trainings, team workshops, and organizational development. This experience was incredibly rewarding and gave me a deep appreciation for the power of community and the importance of personal and professional development.

As a mom of two, balancing work and family life has always been a priority for me. When I had our second little boy, I realized that I wanted to be with my boys more... plus rising Day Care costs... amIright? I missed so much when our first turned one, that I didn't want that again. But honestly, could I take my businesses to the next level? Hell ya! I took a chance on myself, and dove deep into creating curriculum for what I know best: coaching and helping others achieve their goals through the CliftonStrengths Assessment, and working with organizations to develop their teams and focus on their mission and vision.

“Brittany, What the heck is CliftonStrengths? Like are you a body builder?

No, I don’t coach individuals on strengths conditioning like you would think. My clients are not ‘down bad crying at the gym’. But I do coach individuals to understand their natural talents, the way we automatically think, feel and behave. CliftonStrengths has been a game-changer for me both personally and professionally. As a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, I love helping individuals discover their unique strengths and learn how to leverage them to achieve their goals. If I had to break down my top 5 strengths in my own words:

Futuristic: I am inspired by the future and love helping others envision what could be.

Individualization: I have a knack for seeing the unique qualities in each person and figuring out how to bring out the best in everyone.

Arranger: I thrive on organizing resources and people to maximize productivity and achieve goals.

Woo: I enjoy meeting new people and making meaningful connections.

Learner: I have a passion for continuous learning and love helping others grow and develop.

Upcoming Things Trainings/ How to Work with Me!

I'm thrilled to introduce my 6-week Mid-Level Manager Series: "Managing Self, Up, Down, and Across." This program is designed for new(ish) mid-level managers who are looking to build confidence, understand their unique managerial style, and learn how to effectively manage their teams, supervisors, and collaborators. Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect:

Weeks 1 and 2: Self-Discovery- Understanding your strengths, values, and managerial style.
Week 3: Managing Up - Strategies for aligning with your supervisor’s goals and expectations.
Week 4: Building Teams - Techniques for team building and fostering a positive team culture.
Week 5: Collaboration, Managing Across** - Enhancing your collaboration skills to work effectively with partners.
Week 6: Integration - Bringing it all together for a holistic approach to management.

The Arbonne Connection

In addition to coaching, I’m also an Independent Consultant with Arbonne, a company that aligns with my values of health and wellbeing. Arbonne’s products are formulated with clean, plant-based ingredients designed to promote a healthy lifestyle. Integrating Arbonne into my coaching practice allows me to offer holistic solutions for personal and professional growth.

So, Are You Someone Who Takes a Chance on Yourself?

Realizing I missed the majority of our oldest's first year and the milestones he met reminded me of the importance of being present and embracing opportunities. If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed in your current role, I encourage you to take a chance on yourself. Whether it’s joining my Mid-Level Manager Series, exploring your strengths with CliftonStrengths, or enhancing your wellbeing with Arbonne, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

P.S. Ready to take your leadership skills to the next level?

Join my 6-week Mid-Level Manager Series and discover the power of your unique strengths. Let’s work together to build a future where you and your team can thrive. Connect with me on social media, check out my workshops, or reach out directly to learn more. Together, we can make things happen!

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Here’s to embracing our strengths, supporting each other, and achieving our goals!

Do conversations make you sweat?

If you are just a little paranoid about holding conversations because you dread the flatline, awkward silence, or the constant “mm, hmm’s” then I have something that can help air out those arm pits and give you a sigh of relief.

Now I didn’t create this cheat sheet, I had training as a sorority woman to speak to potential new members with the goal of learning who they are and connecting them to how our organization can cultivate their potential. Shout out to those women who made me less awkward. Note* still awkward, but not as awkward in awkward settings like networking at conferences or meeting new people.

The 7 topics to keep in mind when a conversation flatlines is….
Family, Friends, Firsts, Favorites, Food, Fun, and Future

Go in with a few questions for each topic. Pull them out when needed. Some examples are:
- This is my first time in this city, have you been here before?
- (assuming they say yes) Do you have a suggestion of restaurants in the area? (wait for answer) Oh what is your favorite dish?

These topics should guide your conversation if you get stuck and feel the awkwardness settling in. Keep in mind you should be an active listener more than anything in a conversation. If you ask a question in one of the topics, it may lead you to a connection that you should stay on. Don’t immediately think, “Ok I covered Fun, let me move to Food!” Stay on topic, ask more questions, and find the connection!

Lastly, this scenario may be different if you are networking with purpose. If you are job searching or seeking a specific connection for your business, then you need to make sure you have an elevator pitch ready. But be a human and understand that people still love to talk about themselves and the F’s can lead to your future if used correctly.

Practice this today, at the coffee shop, in the hallway, through text or email to clients!

Do great things,
BDP
